What we mean by that is natural flattering light, usually outdoors and we ensure the subject looks relaxed, approachable and confident. No more awkward frozen smiles in a studio.

Try to avoid stripes as they can interact oddly with a camera’s lens. If you do not have brand specific colours or uniform, we recommend classics in midtones (mid-blue, grey, tan, olive etc) as blacks can be too dark, losing details and whites can be too bright and reflective. But really it must be something that makes the subject feel comfortable and reflects their brand. We are not opposed to bright colours at all but consideration is given when choosing patterns so that the outfit doesn’t distract from the face and personality captured.

We love in situ portraits, so that we can show you as your work. If you are an artist, your studio is a great backdrop. The woods would make a beautiful location for a dog walker. If you don’t have a set premises but you do have a trade, we can help you choose an appropriate location. For example, we photographed a Translator, for which we got creative with reading material as props but kept it simple and included outdoor headshots.

During your consultation, I will guide you through incorporating your brand colours into your shoot, including wardrobe choices, and plan for the best lighting and locations. I'll also suggest any props we may need to source and recommend a schedule tailored to the number of participants.
