What I love about Dewsall Court is how it brings everything together within easy reach for an idyllic English countryside celebration. From the main farmhouse, it’s just a short, scenic walk through a rose archway to the quaint church—a perfect setting for an intimate village wedding feel. The guest houses and event barn are only meters away, each with its own unique style. Though compact, the estate offers a variety of stunning backdrops for portraits, from the grand yet homely main house to the light-filled, airy barn. For the reception, Imogen and Brad chose two long tables set between the barn's pale stone walls and large windows, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere.
Capturing the Heartfelt Layers of a Dewsall Court Manor House Wedding
When I start an edit, I often have a few ideas of where it might go, as throughout the wedding day, I get to know the couple in an accelerated way. I see them interacting with their closest circles and hear the heartfelt words from their loved ones. Imogen and Brad’s day was relaxed, full of warmth and laughter, all of which radiated through the couple.
Initially, when I began editing Brad’s speech, I focused on the romantic lines and skimmed over the jokes, thinking that while it was funny, it lacked the romance I remembered. But I soon realised that wasn’t true to Imogen and Brad as a couple. Instead, I let their personalities guide the tone. By including almost all of Brad’s speech and pairing each punchline with genuine laughter I captured, a beaming happiness and profound love naturally came through.
I knew I’d cracked the creative puzzle when I could watch back clips I’d heard tens of times and suddenly I well up with their new power—the music, the subtle glances now beautifully illustrated with the inner thoughts expressed in the speeches. Another challenge was weaving in Imogen’s mother’s beautiful words without interrupting the focus on Imogen and Brad’s story. It was a puzzle worth solving, as I find that if I can include all the layers of a wedding—the setting, family significance, romance, and fun—that’s when my couples feel they have everything they wished for in their video.
Imogen and Brad shared the following after watching their film: “Immediate tears from us both as we drank our coffees in bed this morning 😂 It is truly beautiful and captured the day perfectly. Every moment just tells the story of the day and takes us back. Thank you for no doubt the long hours you spent on crafting this, it shows in all the little details. We see and appreciate them all ❤️ We're expecting a new member of the family early Feb and he was kicking around throughout. Just felt extra special to watch the video ahead of this next adventure.”
