Intimate Beach Wedding in Margate
Lisa & Duncan - Margate Beach, England - Wedding Videography
Filming a wedding in a couple’s hometown is not as common as it used to be for me, but this seaside wedding was a true celebration of the beautiful life Lisa and Duncan have built together since settling in Margate. It was a refreshing change to create a wedding film for a beach wedding in the UK. This joyous, intimate, and fun ceremony on the beach had me reeling that I get to do this as a job. It also had me emptying sand from my shoes weeks after filming.

Prior to their wedding day, Lisa and Duncan collected Margate’s seawater, extracted and dried the salt, and had each guest take part in a salt ceremony. It was such an original symbol of the collective support they had that day, and even more meaningful because of the role that cooking has in their lives—Duncan being the most incredible cook and Lisa being a food critic. However, the best creation to be celebrated, above all the life, love and food, was their daughter Juno, their much yearned for addition to the family.
They memorised their vows, which were really moving declarations. At times, the adrenaline interrupted their memory a little, but I cut together a sequence of their vows which showed off the emotion of the moment. To see other ways I’ve showcased the best of the vows without predictable repetition, see Lily and David’s Switzerland wedding film.
Upon receiving their wedding film, Lisa and Duncan said “We LOVED watching the wedding video. It's beautiful, thank you... it made me cry! Thank you for putting so much work into it. It was very emotional and you beautifully captured so many special parts of the day. Tor and Olly (who married us) happened to be here this weekend, so it was great to share it with them too.”
Then, a few years later, I was surprised by a lovely message: “Hello. Today is our three year anniversary. Just wanted to let you know that we watch your gorgeous video every year on our anniversary (and often in between, too). Our daughter loves to watch it, even though she doesn't remember being there. We love to see people who have now passed, and it's like being together again; it reminds us of such a magical day. You captured it all so perfectly. Thank you for helping us relive it all! We feel so very lucky. Hope you're well and making more magical memories for people every day - Lisa, Duncan and Juno”.
